Goo day to you, and welcome to Rosehill. My name's Gloopert. I live in this village with my friend Rose.

It's a peaceful place, until the bad humans launch one of their splattacks, that is.

But when that happens, Psaro always comes to the rescue―he's a prince among monsterkind, you know!

For as long as anyone can remember, humans and monsters have been at each other's throats. I get the impression Rose hopes they'll learn to get along some day.

As for Psaro and I, we've been friends for a long slime. He discusses all sorts of important things with me, like how he wants a world where elves and other vulnerable creatures can live without fear.

Yes, Psaro is a really gooreat chap.

One evening, Psaro came home with a grim look on his face and said the most shocking thing―that he was gooing to war with the humans!

Rose tried her utmost to change his mind, but he just walked off without a word.

Rose was beside herself. I wanted to help, but found myself lost for words.

Not long after, the Chosen paid a visit to Rosehill.

All of them were humans, but they seemed friendly enough. Rose asked―no, implored the Chosen to stop Psaro, even if it meant losing him forever.

...Wait a second! Lose Psaro!?

That, I couldn't accept. It looked like I'd have to goo and talk some sense into him myself.

I left Rosehill in a hurry and went directly to Diabolic Hall, stronghold of the monsters. When I found Psaro, I told him exactly how Rose was feeling, and how she had cried at the thought of loozing him.

But Psaro's resolve was firm. He said that humankind could not be trusted and that was that. He sank into a troubled silence soon after.

It was then that he told me about his childhood friend―a human, and the only one he could ever truly open up to.

Psaro said he knew that not all humans were bad, but that war was inevitable, one side was destined to be destroyed, and that he wasn't prepared to back down.

With those words, he left.

On my way back to Rosehill, I bumped into the Chosen again.

I pleaded with them not to fight Psaro, but they were insistent that he must be stopped before he cause any more harm. Then the Hero said something that stayed with me.

He told me that, had things been different, he and Psaro might even have been allies.

At long last I arrived home, where Rose was waiting.

I told her I'd done everything I could to stop Psaro, but that it was all in vain.

The way I see it, both sides are just trying to protect what's dear to them, so why must one destroy the other to achieve this?

As long as they're unable to see eye to eye, I'll just have to look after Rose myself. Come what may, I'll protect the person Psaro holds most dear!

Still, I do hope it's not too late for humans and monsters to find some common ground.

But until that day, I have to do my part to be a better friend to everybody―one step at a slime!
