Sap is a recurring spell in the Dragon Quest Series. Introduced in Dragon Quest III, it has a 75% chance to lower an enemy's defense.

Early on, this spell is useful on durable enemies, including bosses. However, as the game progresses, monsters have some resistance to this spell and some have complete immunity to it.
