Giga Drain Magic is the improved version of the more common Drain Magic, first appearing in the Professional version of Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 in 2011. Depending on the title, it will either siphon significantly more MP from a single target or leech off of several targets at once.

Appearances

Dragon Quest X

G.D.M is reserved for boss-monsters and will drain between 0~120 MP from a single target four times in a row, leading to an unwieldy but very dangerous weapon against casters.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age

Booga uses the power of the green orb to cast the spell, with Mordegon & Sheer Decadence having access to it naturally. The effect will vary depending on if the game is played in 3D or 2D: In 3D it is classified as a skill and thus cannot be Bounced back, draining 6~8 MP eight times in a row from random targets, and in 2D it drains 10~15 from every party member.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 Professional

The spell costs 1 MP and is cast four times, with the player selecting the first target but the others being randomly targeted. Each victim is drained of 25% of it's maximum MP, with a range of 5~10 MP layered on top of that.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland 3D

Giga Drain Magic has the same effect as in Joker 2: Professional.

Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru and Luca's Marvelous Mysterious Key

Giga Drain Magic has the same effect as in Joker 2: Professional.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3

It still costs 1 MP for four shots but the spell's effectiveness now depends on the caster's level, being 75% of the monster's level with 5~10 MP added. For example, if a caster is at level 64 then the range for one shot will be 53~58. Additionally any of the four drainings can be reflected back at the caster to no effect, and are subject to going haywire like any other spell.
