The Quagmire Cave[1] (Originally Swamp Cave) is a dungeon which connects north and south eastern Alefgard. The dungeon has one entrance on each continent, as well as both sides being surrounded by poisonous swamps. It is one of only a few places which is accessible in the original Dragon Quest trilogy.

Appearances

Dragon Quest

The Swamp Cave must be crossed in order to reach the southeastern continent. The cave also contains the kidnapped Princess Gwaelin who is guarded by a single Green Dragon.

Dragon Quest II

The Quagmire Cave serves no real purpose in the game due to the fact that by the time the hero's party can access it, they already have a ship which eliminates the need to enter the cave.

Additionally, the cave has been downsized to a simple straight corridor with no treasure inside.

Dragon Quest III

The Quagmire Cave is not fully completed during the time period of the game. Inside the north entrance, the hero's party can visit several workers who are busy completing its excavation.
