Rooming with a Gamer Gal

From Dragon Quest Wiki

Rooming with a Gamer Girl (ゆうべはお楽しみでしたね (Yuube wa Otanoshimi Deshita ne), also known as "Thou hast had a good night's sleep I hope") is a comedy manga series by Renjuro Kindaichi focusing on two Dragon Quest X players who become roommates.

It has 8 volumes as of June 24, 2021. A full color edition began publication on February 12, 2016. On December 25, 2023, it began serialization in English in Square Enix's manga app, Manga Up!.

Dragon Quest X players can obtain Goro's outfit in-game in the poppet city of Megistolis.

Summary[edit]

Takumi Satsuki (Early 20s, Male in real life / Female in-game) became friends with Goro-san (Male in-game) on Dragon Quest X, and they decide to become roommates. When he goes to meet up with Goro-san though, who he finds standing there is someone who doesn't resemble their character in game one bit... a gyaru...?! This unintentionally catfished couple has a lot in store for them in this fun romantic comedy!

English translation[edit]

To the surprise of many, Square Enix released an English-translated version of this manga starting in December 2023. This translation uses its own terminology, though it respects some of the names seen in games like Dragon Quest XI S. For example, it uses the "Poppet" name for the cute doll-like race first seen in XI S, but it uses the fan-name "Weddie" for the fishmen race instead of the "Wetling" name which was coined for the same game.

For the cities and other in-game areas, it uses brand-new names such as Megistolis, Azuran, and Sierra Shrinelands, completely ignoring the fan-translation project.

For spell and monster names, as well as other references to the Dragon Quest series in general (ie: name-dropping Stars or Terry's Wonderland) use the official terminology.

TV Series[edit]

In 2019, the manga was adapted into a six-episode TV series of the same name.
