Etymology[edit]
- Rod of paradise is a play on bird of paradise, referring to the members of the Paradisaeidae family known for their incredibly vibrant plumage which the staff resembles
- Iris is the Greek goddess of the rainbow, who served as one of the chief messengers of the Olympic gods.
