Bottlenose buckler

The bottlenose buckler, also known as the dolphin shield, is a nautically themed shield that appears in Dragon Quest VII. It is named after the Bottlenose dolphin.

The salty safeguard increases defence and style by +28, and cuts the power of Maelstrom and Jolly Rager by 30 points. It can only be equipped by the Hero and Aishe. Bottlenose bucklers can only be acquired from the Casino near Pilgrim's Rest in exchange for 5,000 tokens. If the bottlenose buckler is equipped with the Sea Serpent Sabre when being graded for the Best Dressed contest of the Excellence Grading Organisation in El Ciclo, they provide an extra +10 style.

• In the 3DS version, a bottlenose buckler can be found on the world map outside of the Pillar of Sulkk in the past.
