The Son of Simão is an unnamed character in Dragon Quest III, who searches for his missing father.

Appearances[edit]

Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation[edit]

The man resides in Manoza and warns the Hero no not approach the castle carelessly. he states that the King of Manoza used to be a kind and just ruler, but some decade prior he underwent a drastic change and became a petty despot who revels in tormenting his subjects. He will also state that he is looking for his father Simão, who was wrongfully banished by the King for treason.

Beginning with the 1996 Super Famicom remake if any party member has equipped the mountaincleaver, the sword that Simão once wielded, and speaks to his son then he will learn the truth of his father's passing.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake[edit]

The son of Simão is treated with more significance in this version of the game, being given more dialogue and being assigned a voice actor. His role does not change, but if he is spoken to after the death of Baramos he will show the Hero the hidden diary of his father that he found after cleaning the family home. The journal shines a clearer light on Simão's frame of mind prior to his banishment, such as realizing that the archfiend is targeting anyone associated with Ortega and resolving to become stronger to better aid his friend. Once the Hero finishes reading they will mournfully inform the man of his father's passing; he admits that he long suspected this to be the case, but the news weighs heavily on his heart nonetheless.

Rather than allowing himself to succumb to sadness, he takes pride in knowing that his father's sword found its way to the world's savior and served its purpose. He elects to remain in Manoza to watch over the kingdom to prevent another tragedy from ever happening. He muses that as the mountaincleaver helped the Hero find their path, he should do the same to help others find theirs.

During the ending he is shown holding an audience with the King while the unseen ghost of his father watches on, now freed from the Shrine of Shackles.
