Well wisher

From Dragon Quest Wiki
(Redirected from EvilWell)
For the monster class in Dragon Quest VII, see Well wisher (vocation).

The well Wisher is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first introduced in Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation.

The wart-covered, red demon is a monster that hides in wells around the world. It is quite strong and has a penchant of throwing rocks and screaming a War Cry.

Characteristics[edit]

With a demonic physique that barely fits in the well itself, and red-orange pock marked skin, drool dripping from its maw, the well wisher can be a terrifying surprise for adventurers looking to explore the bottom of tantalizing wells. In battle, the well wisher hurls stone that skip across and do damage to the entire party, along with holding its breath for a boisterously big attack. At times the well wisher will just sit and grin manically rather than attacking, and others it will duck back into it's lair and leap up to surprise the party, making them miss a turn.

In Dragon Quest VI they begin the battle with Bounce already cast, protecting them from magic attacks and debuffs.

3DS version changes
Experience decreased, but gold increased.

A boss version of well wisher is faced at the bottom of the Roots of Ygg, attempting to prevent the party from purifying its waters. Care should be taken as it is capable of incapacitating the party by putting them to sleep or intimidating them with its sudden shouts. At least one party member should have access to Dawn Chorus to keep the party awake and Sap is recommended as it has no resistance against it.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Super Light[edit]

Dragon Quest of the Stars[edit]

Dragon Quest Rivals[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Their name is based upon the term well wisher, which means someone that desires happiness and success for others, often openly expressing such. This comically at odds with the monster that only seeks to cause the party trouble and harm. Traditionally, people have thrown money into the bottom of wells in the hopes of having their wishes granted, which adds another layer to the pun.
